Payson getaway! and grandbabies

We were lucky enough to get most the family up for the weekend to Payson for some family bonding time. We sat around and chatted and had some yummy food, fun games, some golf and hot tub swimming. We even went to church while in Payson. I actually really like to go because Payson people are so funny and real, and most the time entertaining from the pulpit. Grandpa and Grandma won this years Chaparral Pines golf tournament. AGAIN! We won $90.00 each to the golf shop for some shopping and it was fun to spend time with Merlin Rolley and Cody Smith. Thanks for playing some awesome golf!

We had such a fun but jam packed weekend with so much family time. It rained all weekend which was lame for us who wanted to get out and explore. Michelle and Hayleigh Olsen made a trip down to AZ to visit little Brayden. They had such a blast. David had his 51st birthday celebration, we had the whole family get together at Sweet tomatoes. The college girls are wonderful and were so happy to get to see the grand babies. The time went way to fast and I can't believe they made the huge trip down only for 2 days of family time. What could be better then getting the whole family together for dinner.

It hard to believe how fast time goes with having our family get bigger. Brooke had such a fun party for her big 3 years old. We had a yummy lunch with pizza and salad and the yummy confetti cake. Brooks was so darling when she opened her gifts. She would sigh and say " I needed this!" After every gift she opened. She is such a hoot. We also got to ride horses on the farm and play a little tee ball as well. Thanks Ray for such a fun party!

We had such a great time with the family for Christi's Birthday. Mom packed an awesome lunch and we went on the most beautiful day of the year. It was so nice to be at the Zoo with no crowds and just our stroller brigade. Dad and Mom had such a great time hanging with the grand babies and soakin in the family. Thanks for the great time! Brayden is almost 7 weeks old and loved being in the sun and being held my the family all day long.

Our pixi party is the event of the year. We have been working so hard all year long on our gifts to each other. Mom this year made the best cordon Bleu with all the trimmings. Dad gave beautiful paintings to Brad Bowles and Mom a fabulous quilt to Lindsay. Mom received framed pictures of all the girls and Dad got an amazing easel for painting from Jess. Gifts that were given were a gun closest from Brad B. to Brad O. A corner curial shelf for Jessica's Salon, a cute wooded Christmas decoration for Raylenes front door, a refurbished jewelry box, and much more. Christmas is so much fun when we are able to work so long for a great gift!.

Thanksgiving is always the best on the Nichols side of the family. With so many fun and big families we get to meet new additions every year. Colleen was such a gracious host by having us all over to her home. We had a family style set up with amazing food and had the traditional fun games as well. Sunday dinner with the Family

Do you know those special moments where two people can go and enjoy a romantic dinner in a beautiful restaurant with all the china, silver and crystal. EVERY single Sunday my mom puts out this spread.Roast, potatoes, veggies, the list goes on and on! Not to mention the food is by far better than any restaurant that I have yet had dinner at. Really she is fantastic! This is Kelsey's last Sunday with the fam before she takes off to UT for her sophomore year at BYU. She will be missed. I just love having lounging time hanging out with the fam just chatting about politics, church, and life.
We spent most of today sitting on the floor in the nursery watching Brooklyn entertain us! She really is a HOOT. She does the splits, and high fives and has a few words down.
Dad spotted an annoying cackle black bird and came back a few minutes later with his pellet gun ready to shoot it. We with the babies in the nursery just watched as dad lifted the window and aimed ready to shoot the bird. It was such a classic shot I had to get a pix of it... and No animals were injured in this activity.

We had such a great time this past week camping. Dad pulled out the dusty trailer and hauled all of our luggage and camping equipment up to the mountains. Ray was a single mom up in the cold with two young babies which actually did really great. The trailer keeps it pretty civilized when bottles need to be warmed asap! etc. Brad and I drove up with the bikes and all the wood for the awesome bonfires at night. He was so rugged and manly and had such a great time rolling in the dirt and being wilderness man. Brad is amazing on a bike. Serious he was whaling on us the whole time up these crazy hills that almost killed me and Ray. Ray said child birth was easier then the bike ride around the lake. You don't even have to ask to know that we had the best food around, my mom has some skills! We had our air mattress and slept just right in the cooler evenings. We also were able to leave the beagle herd behind so it was just Brad and I without the dog sitting! whoo hoo. Worth every penny! Also, we cant forget the survival skills for the girls with their cell phones. Desperation could be found on all their faces, as Christi would ride her bike around the camp holding the cell in the air, Kelsey having her phone rest exactly on a chair so she could receive her texts and the girls all around going on random walks trying to get more bars out in the middle of no where. If I had my way, I would have just taken them away! I LOVE not having a cell!!!

Happy Hipi's Sunny Mesa's Girls Camp.

Lindsay and Mary Rocked the camp this year! They were in most pictures on the slideshow and were always involved with the awsome YCL activities and being leaders for the girls. Their lame leaders didnt take any pix so I (Jessica) ran around camp like a crazy woman taking pix. Lindsay had 2 of the records for Rock climbing until Heidi Brinton came along. Good thing they are friends. Sunny Mesa Ward were the Happy Hipi's and all of us had a great time! Forest lakes was beautiful, rainy during the day and a bit chilly at night. And I really like having camp closer to home. This year the theme for camp was centered upon VIRTUE, all camps had named their place that of a virtue and all the talks were about virtue. Sorry this film is sideways. This was Lindsays slower rock wall speed.

Lake trip- First of the year!

We had such a great time for our tradtional first lake trip party of the year. We always take the boat out and have dinner on it usually for FHE. Before the new TIGA it was always an ADVENTURE because the sunny mesa never worked. After a year in the barn we would always have mechanical problems or whatever going on with it. This year we all had a great time. We had subs and everyone boarded and Raylene even surfed. No worries she is having a baby in 3 weeks. This was the first time for Brookie to go on the boat and we also brought the dog of coarse. All did specatular, and we missed DAD and Kelsey who had the SWINE flu. Pretty bad stuff. JK. just the regular flu I guess. Mom was always watching brooks last year so it has been two years since she has come. Mom is amazing, she drives the boat and even boarded!

Brooklyn is learning to speak to languages so as she is 15 months she still hasnt said very many words other than sheesh and mama and dada. She knows everyone by name and is so smart. she loves music and dancing! this video doesnt show it off enough. This was Brookies Mothers Day gift to mom.

Mom seriously is the best woman at almost everything she does(except throwing a frisbee) Raylene has been working on a collected scrapbook for over 6 months now from all of us girls. The book has several titles in it like: Moms the best becauses, most embarrassing moments with mom, advice mom ALWAYS gives and many more. Ray made these yummy jello's in tiny triffle dishes which are AWSOME! and I gave her some new teflon pans. Dinner was better than normal and overall we had a great time spending it with the family who was all here! Mom has been on this extreme diet and had lost 15 + pounds. She looks and feels great.

Yes, that is Dad walking in the back ground on the beach in this picture. As we sat on the beach a rondom couple strolled out and then were married. Really it was just an example of how rediculous marriages are now adays, and how grateful we all are who have been sealed to their best friend for all of eternity. Dad was going to use these pix as examples for his marriage class that he teaches every Thursday night.

Second, SPRING BREAK. We had such a great time in California this past time. We rode bikes and had picnics at Balboa, went through the amazing Body worlds exhibit, ate food, golfed and had a great time with the girls friends and the lines. Body worlds is an exhibit where real cadivers are preserved and on display in all different kinds of poses and shapes. They had a body skate boarding, and a ballet dancer and every weeks stages of the birth process, including a real baby in a real body. It was amazing!

Well its been a while since I have updated my mothers blog. Dont ask me why she cant do it herself. But here are just a few highlights of whats been happening the last few months of mom and dads life as grandparents. First off. Grandma Nichols was down for the winter for the last few months, the Nichols family got together to play games and have food at the park. The pony cart was their and we all had some yummy treats and great fun.

We had such a great time at Brooklyns first Birthday Party. Raylene did the cutest invites that were circles and the whole party was a ball theme. Brooklyn got the cutest gifts and really it was alot of fun to see her and Tori hale help unwrap the toys, books and clothes. Pizza and homeade oreo icecream always works. Mom was also able to cruise down the hill with these sweet summer sleds. Really everyone had a great time. Grandparents Bowles and Brads Cousin and family, the Lines, Richardsons, and Olsens were all in attendance.

Really wheat grass easter baskets

So our first run with these baskets was a complete failure. This idea was given to mom from super sister gail who loves doing this every year I guess so we tried it. When you put a soil/ syrofoam filler in with hard white wheat and you water, the seeds actually grow grass. We thought it would be so fun for a basket filler to have grass with rolls and cookies. the first one rotted because the wheat was dead and the second one didnt turn out becuase we started it to late. Next year we will not make the same mistakes. But here is a heads up on what you can do for some cute Easter baskets for gifts!

So my mom's b-day was this last week. Since she watches Brooklyn often, she has been dying to have a place to put Brooklyn down for a nap that was away from loud noise and also a place where she could play on soft carpet. As a surprise gift, my dad took her to Payson overnight while Brad O., Jessica, Mary, my Brad, and I completely cleaned out and remodeled my sisters' room into the "GRANDBABY" room in my mom's house. (Christi and Kelsey get home Tuesday from BYU and are in for a surprise!)

Friday morning we cleaned out, dusted, vacuumed, and dusted the room some more. Then, around 7 that night when everyone was off work, we began the big job...painting the room ! Her sage green chair was our inspiration piece and we thought choclate brown would be a good contrast. So yes...she came home today, totally loving it and totally surprised! YAY! We had fun, but are all tired after staying up til 4:30am in the morning. How the heck do shows like "Trading Places" redo rooms so fast. It took us forever (9 hours), but looks amazing I think! Love you mom! Happy bday!

My Parents as a gift to the whole Killian and Stapley Family throw a HUGE tradtional party for all the Uncles and Aunts. This year was fun because we are a couple were invited. We had the best food, we had Morton's roast and all the trimmings. We had some fun and creative gifts that everyone seemed to enjoy unwrapping including Dad's morton Roasts in an icechest . Mom sewed these darling napkins and worked so hard to be the perfect hostess and fun party gal!

MOm had her birthday this past Thursday and we couldnt help but shower her with gifts and a really fun dinner party with teh whole Sunny Mesa Ward. Her amazing married kids help redo a room in the house and transformed it into the most beautiful grandbaby room. We did a sage green and a dark brown with a mixture of Cherry wood funiture. So Thanksgiving was a huge hit, Moms Blueberry sourcream pie from scratch took second prize at our annual Nichols Thanksgiving dinner. The sisters were super women and no one can throw a party like these gals can. Moms daughters got togther on Wednesday for our traditional pie making but it was not a very successful day. Jess's beautiful pumkin burnt, Carols frist round of pie crust had WAY to much salt, Christi's cream pie didn't solidfy and really I guess we can'e win every time!.

The dream team! These gals group up and are able to do the best parties. My cousin Treslee was married to the nicest guy named Rich Barry. The sealing was sweet and the best part was the reception was at our home. Tress's colors were red with black and white polka dots. So cute and the food was bomb! She did some yummy salads and the best rolls ever! and also had a perfect cake! Thanks Tress for letting us help you!

Obama may not even be "eligible" for the presidency, because as of today, he still is unable to prove that he is a "natural-born citizen" of the United States of America. So many years ago this peice of land used to be a garden. We are in the process of recreating this area so we can eventually plant and reep the rewards of having a HUGE resource of veggies to munch on. Mom was their to bring us water, and take some of these really cute pix of us as we dig and set the rows up.
My cute husband Brad was in the dirt all day saturday as he rototilled the rock hard dirt. whoo hoo.
That is me.. and yes I am digging with a shovel. So far we have made six rows.

Mom is Superwoman... really dont tell anyone. Every year we do this fall tradtion of making apples from scratch and then giving them away to close friends and family. We ( mom and Jess) made over 80 apples and finally figured out how to get the white choclate to not melt off in the process.

While the carmel was cooling we also helped Ray with her baby shower invites they turned out great and we are looking forward to the big baby day!.

We were in some pretty close quarters. 13 people in one condo. Here some of the family including brookie is takin a afternoon nap. Jess cut most everyones hair and colored mine. She was so sweet to dress us all up!.

This weekend Kelsey the nimber four daugter began her first semester at BYU! Mom and Dad were kind enough to make the long trek up to party with the girls up here in P-town. We had alot of fun. Some river rafting, free eats at Red Robin , movies and more. Christi is applying for a river rafting job and was brave enough to take us down the river. She did great and will have some great guns after rowing down the river all summer long in the sun.

So, if anyone is up for a great story just talk to my mother about what went on for my reception. My mother, did ALL my food which was Cafe Rio, all my flowers from Costco, and still had time to do the bridesmaids dresses, be at my sealing and also spend that one on one time with me in the brides room. My whole reception was changed in a weeks time and redone so that her spoiled drama queen daugter could have her big day.

My dad not only does the mojority of dished at home but, here you can see that he did alot of them out of a make shift sink on the cooking trailer. He is dressed as a preacher, even the cooks had to dress up like pioneers.

The lady
walking next to the carriage wasn't a member. She brought her daughter up because they love church history and wanted to be a port of this experience. They were kind and helped out alot. It is a great oppurtunity to feel the love and sacrifice and determination of the early saints as they sacrificed and crossed the plains.

This is a table of peanut butter, honey, jelly and more. the youth went down the lines and made their lunches. Ive never seen so much jelly and butter on bread before. the youth thought that they were never to eat again I guess. Some boys had 4 peices of bread stacked with jelly squishing everywhere.

They youth had a great time and it was good to report that their were not to many injuries from walking 20+ miles in 3 days.

We show up to the camping site wednesday night and winds were 50+ mph. I had dirt in places that I didnt know were possible. Everything was coated with dust and it wasnt very condusive for cooking out doors. Dad decided to put a prep table in the food trailer so that we could make food and not have to worry about the extra dirty seasoning ending up in the food. Here are pix of Kelsey mom and I cutting up stuffs for the yummy salad that we made for the 40 leaders who where their setting up early.

It was quite funny, but someone forgot the spaculas to help get the peanut butter out of the 6 containers we had for 320+ people. Here is a pix of Kelsey digging it out with a plastic bag on her hand. We were laughing so hard that we were crying. good memories.

So my mother is new to this blooging idea so her daugter, Jess (Whom apparently has lotsof excess time has decieded to help mom with her blog and get her started on this new adventure. This past weekend was the Mesa Arizona kimball east stakes Pioneer trek. Thefabulous Killian Duos were asked to do the food for the whole event so here are some pix.

Dad and Jess working the grill. We had 320+ people to feed in the middle of nowhere. It was a huge challenge but alot of fun. I think the youth ate more than they would have normally, but since treks are known for being real and exact youth thought that we were going to starve them! We didn't and the food was really great!. We had a BBQ, beef stew, homeade bread with honey butter, full skillet breakfast and lots more.
